Irwell Gardens is a 3-acre brownfield site located within Salford, approximately three miles north of Manchester city centre. The proposals comprise of 52 new dwellings and community space set across the natural setting of the River Irwell. The residential accommodation is a mix of three and four bedroom dwellings; a contemporary take on the historical terraces surrounding the site.

Responding to its location, which is adjacent to the River Irwell, and the high demand for sustainable housing in Salford, the approach to the design and layout of the development has been conceived with a precise view which involves a series of dwellings reminiscent of the character of neighbouring terraces. This acknowledges the industrial heritage of the site and surrounding area. A series of green interventions fronting both entries to the site form the focal point of the development, while a new public playground contributes to the community facilities.
